About the Trainer

Melissa Heigl has been working with animals for most of her life. She's enjoyed a variety of positions including veterinary technician, professional cat groomer, show cat handler, and animal trainer. She owns a Standard Poodle named Shade and a Labrador Retriever/Golden Retriever cross named Link. Melissa's dogs are titled in obedience, rally obedience and are certified therapy dogs.

While she continues to enjoy training dogs of every shape and size, Melissa has found that she has a special love for training cats. Melissa and her rescued cats Yuki and Luca travel all over the midwest doing cat training demonstrations. When asked, Melissa will tell you that her favorite thing about working with felines is showing people that cats are generally not so indifferent as they appear. Cats learn quickly and love being trained!
